- How to Recognize a Natural Gas Leak
- Smell
- Distinctive, strong odour, often compared to rotten eggs or sulphur
- Listen
- Whistling, hissing or roaring sound
- Look
- Persistent bubbling in still water
- Discoloured or dead vegetation around the pipeline area.
- Slight mist of ice.
- A sudden and unexplained increase in gas consumption.
- Damaged gas pipe, loose connections.
- Natural Gas being lighter than air always tends to accumulate in corner or loft, look for any such possibilities.

- Open all doors and Windows
- Turn off the gas tap.
- Turn off the Meter control valve.
- Turn off the riser isolation valve.
- Do not switch on or off any electrical switch.
- Extinguish all naked flames.
